Paul Whalley
To say that Paul Whalley is a bit musical is akin to saying that the sea is a bit wet or that pizza is a bit delicious. A true multi instrumentalist, he’s got a masters in classical composition, grew up playing the tuba in one of the UK’s most respected brass bands and spent his early twenties as a session musician for various bands & artists touring the world.
Aside from being a killer guitarist, pianist and tuba-ist, he’s also a formidable production and songwriting talent. Coming at songwriting as ‘a musician first, and a producer second,’ he’s someone that artists truly love working with - a writer and producer who can get into the heart of the song and create something really special.
Working a cross a whole host of genres, Paul’s first major cut was with Lost Frequencies, for his track Recogise, featuring Flynn. Since then he’s worked in many capacities across many genres from writing and producing big rock records to mixing dance hits, he has most recently writing and producing indie-pop darling Alice Merton, reimagining the sound of sultry new Virgin Music signee ILIRA and the comeback record for one of the UK’s most loved boybands, The Wanted.
Based up in his beautiful new studio ‘The Treehouse’ at the heart of Tileyard in Kings cross, Paul’s a killer musical all rounder, as comfortable in first sessions with exciting new artists as he is on a big desk or arranging parts for whole orchestras.
