SIMON DOBSON
Contemporary meets classical in the output of arranger, composer, musician and conductor, Simon Dobson. As a composer he’s been a three time recipient of BASCA's Composer of the Year Award with his musical works have been performed by orchestras the world over. As a conductor he’s worked with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the South Bank Sinfonia and Amsterdam's renowned Metropole Orkest (for whom he’s also acted as artistic producer). He's released albums of his own compositions and composed, played, recorded, arranged and conducted string sections, brass sections and orchestras for several UK no 1 albums.
All that aside, Simon's perhaps best known for his work alongside the Parallax Orchestra ; he arranged the much celebrated orchestration for Bring Me The Horizon's blockbuster shows at London's Royal Albert Hall (watched by a few thousand people at the gig and enjoyed by many, many millions more afterwards online); did the same for Alter Bridge's sell out London-run and arranged orchestral parts for Architects' 15 track performance of their no 1 record For Those That Wish To Exist, livestreamed from Abbey Road. On a different tip he was also instrumental in SOHN’s much vaunted 2020 live album with the Metropole Orkest and arranged orchestral parts for Jon Hopkins’ summer BBC Prom.
Over the years Simon has conducted and arranged music for artists as diverse as George Ezra and Sigma and most recently worked on arrangements for DnB legends KOVEN, a 50th anniversary re-release of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells and tracks for Irish songwriting sensation Orla Gartland's upcoming sophomore record. Few people have as sophisticated a sonic palette as Simon and as strong a footing in so many musical worlds - a thorough, ambitious and super-talented addition to your project.
