STEVEN BATTELLE
Steven Battelle is a man described by Kerrang! as “the maddest musical mind in the country, a demented genius” and by the NME as a “mind bending ludicrous melody writer”.
Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance went so far as to say that Steven’s songs “spoke directly to (Way’s) damaged and angry 16-year-old self, yet was just as enjoyable to (his) 30-year-old-brain. I know ever word to every song they’ve ever written.”
Basically, Steven Battelle is a fantastic songwriter.
As part of critically acclaimed Derbyshire band, LostAlone, Steven toured the world with some of the biggest names in rock (My Chemical Romance? Yep. Paramore? Done. Thirty Seconds To Mars? Completed it, mate), and signed to Warner Records under the auspices of legendary A&R man Craig Aaronson. When the band went on hiatus, Steven turned his hand to writing for others, and hasn’t stopped since.
Quickly establishing himself as a notable riff-architect and melodicist, Steven’s first major cuts came on McFly’s 2023 LP Power To Play, where he co-wrote 7 of the record’s 11 tracks. Since then either as a standalone writer or with his production trio SideQuest (comprised of Battelle, Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones), Steven’s written with artists including Sam Ryder, Only The Poets, Beth McCarthy, Lewis Fitzgerald, and Lozeak.
A one-of-a-kind writer and a unique energy in the room, Steven’s open for sessions with new and established artists alike.
