Radio was my first love. Honestly, I don’t think I’d be doing this if it wasn’t for Steve Lamacq’s Evening Sessions back in the heady days of the early 2000s.
Glad to say that radio continues to be good to me and our gang at Friends Vs Music, with three records on Radio 1’s playlist.
Jack Garratt’s Better, co-written by Henry Brill and previously featured as Greg James’ record of the week sits on the C list, and sounds enormous on the airwaves. This precedes his long awaited sophomore record, coming in a few weeks. The single’s also been picking up radio spins worldwide and has featured heavily in playlists across DSPs
Happiness In Liquid Form by Alfie Templeman has also got a much coveted Radio 1 C list slot. It’s a massive slice of bedroom pop from the disgracefully young songwriter. Darren Lawson added his mix magic to the track and I think you’ll agree that it’s a mighty fine sonic treat.
And finally, Sean Oakley’s back with another collaboration with Georgia. He co-produced her new single 24 Hours that’s out on Domino right now. Guess what, that’s on the C-list too.
